Canterbury January 2022

Happy New Year! In Canterbury Class, we have had a very busy start to 2022. We have started by creating amazing setting descriptions using the music video 'Titanium.' We spent time watching different parts of the video and using language to describe certain scenes from this. We have also been working on using a range of punctuation in our writing.

In our PESHR lessons, we have been learning about stereotypes. We learnt that a stereotype is an idea or belief many people have about a thing or group that is based upon how they look on the outside, which may be untrue or only partly true. We spent time using our knowledge to write our own songs about stereotypes.

During our Guided Reading lessons, we have started to read the text 'Pig Heart Boy.' The main character is facing a very difficult decision, so we spent some time discussing his options and giving him some words of advice.

In our Geography lessons, we have been learning about rivers and have been learning key vocabulary linked to this. We used this knowledge to write a story with key technical terms.

During our Maths lessons, we have been working hard developing our fraction skills. We have also been working on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.

During our R.E lessons, we have been looking at parts of the Bible that link to miracles. We then thought about how this can be interpreted in different ways by Christians.
