Our Learning in December
We have been using the story Mog's Christmas Calamity to write a Christmas story. The story is all about Mog the cat and how his nightmare instigates a Christmas disaster for his family. The story ends with generosity and sharing from their community. We focused on adding detailed descriptions and using high level punctuation.
In maths we have been learning about fractions, decimals and percentages and how to use these when problem solving. We have also learnt about measures and how to convert them. Lastly, we identified the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes and how to make nets of shapes. We used this to make a Christmas themed box.
Our Science topic is electricity. We made simple circuits and learnt how to use circuit symbols to draw circuit diagrams. We found out about conductors and insulators. We have planned and completed investigations using simple circuits, testing what happens when you increase the voltage in a circuit and the impact that this has on bulbs and buzzers. After we had learnt about circuits, we designed our own Christmas decoration and drew annotated diagrams.
We have also continued our learning about Benin. We used clay to create tiles, similar to those that were made during the Benin period.
We have been completing PE with coach. We have been playing football and basketball. We have learnt the rules of the games and developed our ball control.
