Remote Learning Continues....
Oxford class have continued to learn remotely through February. We continued with our butterfly 'Amazing African Adventures' and started our new story. We also enjoyed a few snow days and went outside to make snowmen!
Our new story for the last few weeks of Spring 2 was 'Handa's Suprise'. We enjoyed learning the story, sequencing it, making story maps, re-telling it and then boxing it up to make our own version of the story. We spoke about the different things we could change in the story, such as the characters and the setting. We then all made our own brilliant versions and used our phonics skills to write some sentences about it.
In Maths, we have been exploring the different properties of shapes, finding one more and less than a number and we have started to find doubles of a number. We have found fun ways to make and talk about shapes, such as forming them through playdough or lollypop sticks, creating shape monsters, creating shape pictures and we have made our own number towers when discussing one more and less.
During choosing time we completed many different activities which related to Handa's Surprise. After discussing why we eat fruits and how they keep us healthy, we made our own fruit people for our creative work. We also made our own designs of Handa's basket so that she could carry the fruit on her head like in the story. We went on a yoga adventure to Tanzania and wrote our own passports and decided what we were going to pack in our suitcases. We have had lots of fun exploring our Amazing African Adventures butterfly, and next term we will be moving on to exploring Fairytales!
