July 2022

During the course of this year the child have really enjoyed expressing themselves creatively. We have experienced a range of creative techniques, including: printing, painting, drawing and collaging. We have also looked at the work of different artists including the work of Van Gogh and Franz Marc.

We recently set ourselves the challenge of using our painting skills to create some artwork to mark the retirement of our Headteacher. We were inspired by the work of abstract painters such as Wassily Kandinsky.

This artwork was inspired by one of Ms Ball's infamous teacher interview 'challenges', to deliver a lesson inspired by the jewel the 'Star of India'. We gave the children an image of this jewel. We gave the children choices of coloured card, freedom to position their shapes as they liked, a choice of paint and choices of stencils of triangles with different shapes and sizes. Their children composed their pictures and applied paint using a sponge over the stencils. These are some of the children's final creations. Aren't they amazing!
