In our English lessons we have been looking the genre of spooky stories. We looked at a modelled text entitled ‘The Kind Stranger,’ and analysed it’s features against the year 6 expectations for writing. We spent time looking at vocabulary and it’s role in creating atmosphere, then we created our own spooky word banks. Using what we had learnt we innovated the story changing key details such as the setting or character. Finally we used what we had learnt to invent our own short spooky stories ensuring we included a wide range of punctuation. Here are some of our fantastic spooky stories.

In Maths, we have been developing our reasoning skills and solving a wide range of problems that involve measures. (see examples of some of these problems below).

In art, we have been working on a project that involved us looking critically at a range of self-portraits that use different mediums. We experimented with the mediums: paint, crayon, charcoal, pencil and collage. Following this we selected one of the mediums to create our own self-portrait. Can you spot who is who from Gibraltar class?

In Science, we recently celebrated ‘British Science Week.’ During the week the children had the opportunity to complete some exciting activities. Children in Gibraltar class particularly enjoyed using origami to create an antibody or virus cell.
