November 2021
Immi's Gift
November has been a busy time in Exeter Class. We have started our new 'Butterfly' called 'From Pole to Pole' where we have been learning all about the polar regions. We have been sharing a beautiful story called 'Immi's Gift.' Here are some of our 'polar' activities:
Igloo and ice hole role play
A real ice igloo
Igloo collage with paper ice blocks
Hand-print polar bear
Trip to Church
November saw our very first school trip. We walked down to Christ Church very sensibly and enjoyed meeting Mrs Taylor and exploring our church. Mrs Taylor told us a little bit about the church and we had an opportunity to explore the church and look at the beautiful paintings and stained glass windows.
Fireworks Night
Fireworks night is celebrated by many in November. We talked about how to keep ourselves safe during these celebrations. In school we made our own firework pictures by rolling marbles in brightly coloured paint and rolling them across the paper.
Remembrance Day
On the 11th November we joined with the rest of the school in observing a 2 minute silence to show respect for lives lost during wartime. During the day we explored the symbolism of the poppy and took part in activities to make our own poppies.
Anti-Bullying Week
We talked about how we can be a good friend. We wore odd socks to celebrate that we are all different and unique.
Maths - Number 5
In maths we have been learning all about the number 5. We played games matching 5 objects to our five fingers using hand templates.
First 'Nature Explorer' Session in our Forest Area
We had a trip down to the forest area at the bottom of the field. We had great fun exploring all the different activities, including the tyre swing, the mud kitchen and jumping in leaves!
We have enjoyed so much learning again this month. Next month we will be show-casing all of our fantastic Christmas work so don't miss it!
