Parking and Road Safety
Every local authority has a duty to promote road safety. Bexley is committed to cutting the number of people killed or injured on the borough's roads through a combination of engineering, enforcement and education.
The road safety team is responsible for changing behaviour using education, training and publicity. This work is done with all ages and all road users; whilst most of our work is delivered to children and young adults in schools, we support stand-alone activities or other events to promote safer behaviour on our roads where we can.

Parking Notice
Please remember not to park illegally outside the school gates. As well as causing considerable inconvenience to other parents and our neighbours, it puts children safety at risk.
We have spoken to London Borough of Bexley and they have given us the following information:
- Blocking a driveway is not an offense by law unless the resident has registered the drop down kerb with the Council. The resident has 2 options, they can request for someone to come each time a car is parked or they can register their drop down kerb, it would then be an offence to park across the drop down kerb and the person doing so could be reported. This also means that any car including the resident’s own car if parked across the drop down kerb could receive a PCN (Penalty Charge Notice).
- This is the web page that the resident would need to go to: Https://www.bexley.gov.uk/services/parking/request-parking-enforcement
- Mounting the pavement is a Police matter and anyone mounting the pavement can be reported to the Police.
- Parking on zig zags or yellow lines is not permitted and this can be reported by members of the public to Parking Services, by telephone on 020 8303 7777 or by email parkingservices@bexley.gov.uk and they can arrange to send a warden, however it may take up to 45 minutes for the warden to arrive.
Parking at School
The School car park is for staff and agreed visitors only.
Please can we remind parents not to follow staff into the car park nor to drive in if the school gates are open when arriving to drop off or collect your child. This should also be observed after school hours during school events such as clubs.
The increasing number of cars outside school at the beginning and end of the day is a common issue for the majority of schools in the country. We encourage families to walk to school wherever possible and politely request that parents and visitors to the school park in surrounding roads with thought and consideration for the children, other adults and the local community. Please obey the restrictions in place and do not park in an obstructive manner.
Please think before you park!
- Walk to school if you can.
- If you have to come by car, try to share trips with neighbours or friends, observe the traffic regulations and park safely a short distance form the school to avoid congestion near to the school so that children can cross safely.
- Do not park, or wait on the yellow 'KEEP CLEAR' markings. These markings are self explanatory and are there to keep children safe.
- Do not block other people's driveways with your vehicle. This is classed as unnecessary obstruction and could result in your vehicle being ticketed and even removed.
- Do not park blocking dropped kerbs. these are in place to allow access to wheelchairs/prams. Blocking these could result in your vehicle being ticketed.
- Do not double park.
- Do not let your children exit vehicles on the roadside instead of the kerb/pavement.
- Do not turn in the road, but follow the one-way system in place.
The safety of the children is our priority. Thank you to everyone that parks in a safe and considerate fashion.
