Rochester's February Blog 2021
Maths
In maths this we have been using our angle skills to help us to solve problems calculating unknown angles.
English
In English this half term we have been reading Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. It is about a young boy in need of a heart transplant but no human hearts are available. Incredibly, Dr Bryce comes to the rescue when he offers Cameron a controversial new surgery called Xenotransplantation which will save his life by transplanting a pig heart.
We began by thinking about the points of view of the different characters in the story.
Then we moved on to learning how to use our skills to write persuasive, formal letters and have been writing to Dr Bryce in role to persuade him to give Cameron the surgery.
Safer Internet Day
On the 9th February it was Safer Internet Day and in Rochester class we spent some time thinking about the different ways that the internet can be used and thought about our own usage of the internet.
We also thought about the reliability of information that we access using the internet and how to ensure that the information that we do find is reliable and what we should do if we see something that worries us.
