Year 6 Production: The Circle of Life
We have been working extremely hard to prepare for our production this year which is called 'The Circle of Life' and is inspired by The Lion King.
We have been dancing, singing and acting nearly everyday and have even been making our own costumes, designing backdrops, tickets and programmes.
History
For history we have researching our own chosen Ancient Civilisation. We have been researching during our reading sessions and computing lessons and some of us have even done some research as extra homework!
We have been using this research to write our own non fiction texts using the writing skills that we have learned during our English lessons over the year.
DT and Geography - Sustainable fashion
We learned about the effect that the fashion industry is having on our planet and the ways that experts say that we can prevent any more damage.
One of the things that we were very interested in was using recycled materials instead of throwing them into landfill. We decided that we were going to try and make clothing using scrap paper and old newspapers.
We started by thinking about the different ways that paper can be used and experimented with folding, plaiting, twisting and coiling to make it stronger and create different effects. Then we looked at designs by Issey Miyake who created garments using fabric to create the effect of origami.
