Rochester's May Blog 2022

In English we have been writing balanced arguments, considering both perspectives on a topic and using formal language to present these ideas to an audience. We reviewed our knowledge of persuasive devices and argued for and against homework. Then, inspired by World Bee Day, we used these skills to create non chronological reports and leaflets to persuade people to support bees.

CCCS- Geography: The Roaring Ring of Fire

In Geography we have been learning about The Pacific Ring of Fire. We began by identifying its location on a map and researching why their are so many earthquakes and volcanoes in this area of the world. Then we learned how volcanoes are created and what is happening in the earth when a volcano erupts.

We also created our own artworks inspired by the artist Margaret Godfrey who created artworks of volcanoes using layered tissue paper and paint.

RE- Buddhism

This half term we have been learning about Buddhism. We started by learning the story of Buddha and the concept of enlightenment. After this we learned about the 4 noble truths, the eightfold path and the 5 precepts and thought about how Buddhists use these and meditation to help them live a Buddhist life and reach enlightenment.

The Queen's Jubilee

In preparation for The Queen's Jubilee we have been creating lots of bunting inspired by The United Kingdom and her reign to decorate our classroom.
