  • Year 5 Residential - PGL Liddington

Mon 28 Mar 2022 Mr Elliott

On Monday 21st March, a large group of Year 5 students departed Christ Church to begin their residential in Liddington, Wiltshire.

Whilst away on their residential, the children were able to participate in an array of activities, which allowed them to face their fears, attempt new challenges, develop their teamwork skills and, ultimately, enjoy a learning environment outside of school.

The children had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with constant smiles on their faces and laughter still ringing in our ears. We can't wait for the next one!

  • PGCE Development Day

Fri 18 Mar 2022 Mr Elliott

On Friday 18th March, Christ Church held another PGCE Development Day. This day was focussed on modelling and was led by Mr Elliott. During the day, the PGCE students developed a sound understanding of what modelling is and the importance it has in the classroom. They also had the opportunity to use what they had learnt when working with a small group of children to make a paper airplane.

Everyone enjoyed the day (especially the children making the paper airplanes) and the feedback was extremely positive.

  • Phonics PGCE Development Day

Mon 07 Mar 2022 Mr Elliott

On Friday 4th March, Christ Church welcomed 30 students from the University of Greenwich to take part in Phonics training delivered by Miss Cornish. Throughout the day, the students developed a better understanding of what Phonics as and how it is delivered at Christ Church, along with references made to our use of Read Write Inc. They also had the opportunity to observe several Phonics sessions before delivering a small group activity with focus children.
