Maths
In our Maths lessons, we have been exploring different ways of multiplying and dividing four-digit numbers by one or two-digit numbers. We looked at several different formal written methods, all of which gave us the same answer - as a class we found that short multiplication and short division were our favourite methods as they have easy-to-follow steps and was more simple to explain.
Have a look at the amazing work we have done!
History
This term in history, Lichfield class have been learning about the WW1 and WW2, as part of our butterfly 'Bombs, Battles and Blackouts'. We learnt lots of interesting things about why WW2 started, what life was like for children in the war and about soldiers in the trenches. On the 11/11, we learnt about what Remembrance Day represented and remembered those who lost their lives in these wars. We discussed ways in which we could pay tribute to those brave soldiers. Here is some of our artwork to represent Remembrance Day.
Guided Reading
In our whole class guided reading sessions, we have been reading the book 'Street Child'. We have read all about a boy named Jim, who has had to overcome several struggles in his young life. We have been learning how to use evidence from the text to back up our answers, as well as trying to read between the lines of the book - what the book shows you not tells you. As this book is based during the Victorian era, we have had to the opportunity to learn a variety of new language and show off our dictionary skills!
