Implementation
At Christ Church, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is guided by an ambitious vision, emphasizing diversity, balance, and innovation. Drawing inspiration from the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage, we strive to create a diverse and balanced learning environment that encourages exploration and creativity. From Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Year 6, our curriculum is designed to offer ambitious opportunities for pupils to delve into various religions, fostering a deep understanding of spirituality and cultural diversity. We use the Diocese of Rochester RE Syllabus as the foundation of our RE curriculum. We will:
Implement innovative teaching methods such as role play, debates, and personal sharing experiences
Integrate cultural capital throughout teaching to expose pupils to diverse beliefs and practices
Adapt our RE curriculum to address contemporary issues and global events with sensitivity and compassion
Seize opportunities like festivals and holidays to explore their significance and rituals
Incorporate current events and charity initiatives into collective worship to make learning relevant and engaging
Organize workshops such as the God and Big Bang workshop to provide authentic learning experiences
Provide adaptive teaching resources reflecting the diversity of religious beliefs and practices
Facilitate open discussions and debates on ethical dilemmas and contemporary issues
Encourage independent research, group projects, and collaborative learning experiences
Employ formative assessment strategies to gauge understanding and adjust teaching approaches as needed
