Christ Church's participation was threefold. Throughout the week all the PE lessons were focused on football and girls were given the opportunity to develop and practise their skills. Secondly, Vicky Bull at St. Fidelis organised an excellent session with support from FA coaches. Twenty four girls from year 1 to year 5 made the short walk to our nearest neighbours where they learned skills and played a series of mini games against their own age groups from St. Fidelis and Royal Park. It was also very refreshing to witness the ease at which our girls interacted and engaged with the girls from the other schools.

To complete the week, Welling United ran a girls' only coaching session on Friday. Amazingly, forty three girls signed up for the event, a third of the KS2 girl roll. Under the beautiful evening sun, the expansive swaths of grass, with which Christ Church has been blessed, provided the perfect canvas for the girls to express their footballing talents.

But it doesn't stop there. I have recently spoken to many local schools who are desperate to play our girls in friendlies and tournaments and from the reaction to Girls' Football Week, our girls are more than ready to meet the challenge.
