07/05/21 - St. Paul's Class

We have been studying the story 'No Ballet Shoes in Syria' about a young child refugee living in Manchester. Aya loves ballet, and hearing music in the community centre brings back memories of her life back home in Aleppo.

Our lessons have been focused on 'using descriptive language to develop characters, settings and plot.'

We created our own text maps, identifying and discussing the language and vocabulary of the text. We explored the different characters and looked at what we could learn about them through the descriptions in the text, especially Aya, the main character.

We then innovated the story to include our own ideas.
