March 2021
Welcome to March's blog. Due to the National Lockdown, our class continued to produce amazing work from their online remote learning lessons BUT on Monday 9th March, our classroom finally opened up and the children returned to the classroom where they belong.
English
In English, we have been looking at non-chronological reports. Using a variety of model texts, the children learned about the features which make up a report and then wrote their very own non chronological reports about a fictional character of their choice.
Maths
In Maths, we have been looking at fractions. The children used themselves to help solve fraction of amounts and also discovered how to find fractions of shapes. After the children were secure with this skill, the children then transferred their knowledge into solving fraction word problems.
RE
In RE, our new topic has been Salvation. We looked carefully at the Easter story and how Christian's believe that Jesus sacrificed himself to save the world. The children created emotion graphs to show the feelings of how Christians would have felt throughout his arrival to Jerusalem to the moment he came back to life and ascended to heaven.
CCCS
In CCCS, we learned about the significant individual Nelson Mandela. The children learned about apartheid and how this affected white and black people. The children wrote fact files about Nelson Mandela, drew a sketch of him using charcoal and sang the song 'Free Nelson Mandela.'
That is it, for now, folks. We hope you enjoyed our March blog and we look forward to seeing you again in April.
