January 2022

January blog!

Welcome to our January blog! We have had lots of fun in January and have enjoyed our return to school. Here are some pictures and explanations of what we have been up to.

English

In English we have been reading a selection of books by Roald Dahl and have written narratives based on 'The Twits'. Before reading the story, Miss Griffiths read us the description of Mr and Mrs Twit without showing us their pictures. We used our inference skills to draw pictures of them.

We used word mats to help us write about the different chapters using different features such as th past tense, conjunctions and suffixes.

Maths

In maths we have covered lots of different topics such as place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and shape. To show our understanding, we had a carousel of problem solving activities to complete. Each table had a different topic and it was very fun.

Science

Our focus in Science has been on plants and one of our enquiry skills is to observe plants while they grow. We decided to see if our beans could grow without soil. We planted beans in a plastic bag with paper towel and water. Here is how they got on!

Library trip

We have also been lucky enough to go to the library to bring back a book of our choice that we can enjoy while in school. We chose a variety of books and are excited to read them.

We hope you enjoyed reading our January blog! :)
