Welcome to our October class blog!

We are excited to show you what we have been doing this month!

Maths 

In Maths, we have been learning about adding and subtracting using the column method. We then went on to apply our learning to different word problems. We learnt that when facing a word problem the first thing we must do is read the question and highlight our key information (the numbers). Next, we must work 

out what the question is asking us to do (add or subtract). Finally, we can then write our number sentence from the question.

We have also been learning about Bar charts we looked out how to read them correctly and then we drew our very own bar charts using the data we were given about people's favourite pets.

English 
In English, we have been looking at the book 'Stone Age Boy'. We really enjoyed creating our very own story maps to help us learn the story.

After we had learnt the text we looked at a the writing toolkit of the things we must include in our adventure story writing.
