November 2021

Welcome to our November class blog!

We are excited to show you what we have been doing this month!

English
In English, we have been looking at the story of 'The Little Hen and the Great War'. We really enjoyed creating our very own story maps to help us learn the story.

After learning out text, we went on to write our very own diary entries. We pretended to be the Little Hen, therefore we used: personal pronouns, time conjunctions and adverbs, to make our writing exciting.

History

In history, we have learning about the Stone Age. We have been learning about how Stone Age people lived in the earlier period of the Stone Age and how people lived in the later period of the Stone Age. We learnt about hunter gatherers, who gathered their food from resources around them and did not have a place where they settled. We also learnt about Neolithic farmers who were the first people to start farming in the world.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning about how to use our knowledge of times tables to support us with working out multiplication problems. We began by using dienes and numicon to support us with making groups of the numbers. We then went on to the pictorial method of drawing the dienes to help us to workout the questions.

We then started to learn a new method of working this out, using our knowledge of partitioning different numbers.
