November 2021

November Blog

Welcome to Wells’ November blog.

Here is some of the work we have been looking at this month

We hope you enjoy!

English

In English we have been looking at different stories written by Julia Donaldson.

We have read "The Ugly Five" and "Tyrannosaurus Drip".

Using the story "The Ugly Five" we wrote diary entries as if we had seen the Ugly Five on a safari in Africa.

We used the skill of apostrophes for contraction within our writing.

From this, we then wrote non-chronological reports about an animal. We used our model text about pandas and our text map to help us to write our own non-chronological report about our chosen animal.

Maths

In maths we have been working hard on our addition and subtraction skills.

We have been looking at adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers by exchanging and crossing the boundary.

This was a really tricky skill to learn but the children in Wells class really tried hard and gave the challenge a good go.

We have also been learning our division facts related to multiplication facts we already know for the 2, 5 and 10 times table.

Nativity

We have also enjoyed practising for our Nativity Performance

 "I'm Gonna Shine".

All the children in year 2 have worked really hard to learn the songs and their own lines for the performance.

They really are ‘Gonna Shine’.

Here are some photos of our children in their costumes.

Thank you for reading our blog this month!
