Lichfield's December Blog 2022

English

In English, we have finished our planets and the solar system focus. We drafted and edited non-chronological reports on planets that we created. We research information about atronauts and using resources from the Europeans Space Agency we watched real footage of a British astronaut modelling zero-gravity reality on the ISS. Then we imagined just how we would feel to be the first human being discovering the planet each of us had invented. We planned and wrote formal letters to the prime minister telling him the great news, and in many cases even asking for funding to continue our exploration!

Maths

In maths, we have been building on our knowledge of fractions and decimals. We have been incorporating our understanding of number and place value to fluency and reasoning problems. We looked at finding equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions. We used our knowlede of factors and multiples to help us.

Geography

In geography, we have been looking at the difference between human and physical geography. We have discussed how human interactions with the physical world are shaping our planet. We compared two locations and identified their human and physical features. Our knowledge in geography also linked to our science curriculum as we discussed how we have day and night and why it is always sunny at midday no matter which side of the world you are on.
