Truro's February blog 25/2/2021

Welcome to Truro's February class blog!
Welcome to Truro's February class blog. February has been a very busy month for us all learning at home, we have been working very hard with the support of our amazing adults at home. We also had a well deserved rest and some of us even got to play in the thick, white snow that we had.

Maths

In maths this term we have started by focusing on estimation with addition and subtraction questions, we have also been answering one and two-step word problems using column method to get the correct answers. We are all getting really confident at using column method and can apply this to lots of different areas of our learning.

English

We have started off our new term with a brand new story 'The Papaya That Spoke'. The story is about a farmer who goes to pick his Papaya's that he has grown when suddenly one of them starts to speak. Before starting our new story we completed our cold task where we planned and wrote our own story with similar a character and setting.

After completing our cold task writing, we read our new story. We have created our own story maps about the story. This helps us to remember the sequence of the story and the vocabulary that is used in it.

Science

In science this half-term our new topic is plants, we have started our topic by thinking about the things we already know about plants: What plants need to survive and what conditions are best to help them grow. We then started our new learning by looking at the different parts of a plants and how they help the plant to live. Some of us labelled pictures or plants and some of us drew our own.

We hope you enjoyed reading and looking at the amazing learning we have been doing at home this month. We had lots of fun learning and creating our work.

We hope to be back in school very soon so that we can all learn together.

Miss Kallagher :)
