November 2021

November blog

Welcome to St Albans' November blog! We hope you enjoy looking at the work we have completed and the fun things that have been happening this month.

English

In English we have been reading a range of texts written by Julia Donaldson. We have read "The Ugly Five" and "Tyrannosaurus Drip". From "The Ugly Five" we wrote diary entries as if we had seen the Ugly Five on a safari in Africa. We used the skill of apostrophes for contraction and our writing was fabulous! Here is an example:

From this, we then wrote non-chronological reports about one of the animals. Some of us chose hyenas and some of us chose spiders for something different! We used our model text about pandas and our text map to help us to write about these living creatures.

We are really proud of our work. Here are some examples:

Maths

In maths we have been working hard on our addition and subtraction skills. We have been looking at adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers by exchanging and crossing the boundary. This is a really challenging skill but the children in St Albans have loved the challenge and have really mastered the skill.

We have also been learning our division facts related to multiplication facts we already know for the 2, 5 and 10 times table.

Nativity

We have also enjoyed practising our Nativity Performance "I'm Gonna Shine". Here is Kaity who is playing Gloria in her costume.

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our work from this month and we look forward to sharing our festive December blog with you!

:)
