November

What a wonderful month November has been for us! The children in Year 6 have continued to work hard and have been enjoying their learning.

English

We introduced a new text focus this month and we are really enjoying our new class text, ‘The London Eye Mystery’ by Siobhan Dowd. The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd is a thrilling adventure story and we have all been gripped. The main character in the book (Ted) uses his special super power (ASD) to solve the mystery of his cousin’s disappearance. We used this as an opportunity to understand more about ASD and we wrote Non-chronological to raise awareness.

Maths

We have been extremely busy during our maths sessions this month as we have been focusing on fractions! We have learned to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions, and our confidence has really grown. We also learned how to find fractions of amounts, equivalent fractions, and how to write fractions in their simplest form.

History

In history, we have been learning all about the ancient civilisation of Benin. We explored many new topics, including the start of the Benin Kingdom, the rulers, their way of life, and their religious beliefs. We enjoyed looking at a range of historical artefacts and recreating some of our own.
