Hereford June Blog

English

In English, Hereford class have been looking at the story of 'The Highway Rat'. First, we looked at the story map and sequenced the events. Next, we used adjectives to describe the rat and the places that he visited in the story. We wrote sentences such as, ‘The Highway Rat gallops on his big, brown horse down the long, narrow lane. Finally, the children innovated the setting and character. We changed the story to 'The Beach Crab'. We then created our own setting and character description based on our innovated work.

Maths

In maths Hereford class have been looking at partitioning numbers into tens and ones up to 100. We discovered that there are 3 tens and 6 ones in the number 36. Next, we looked at half and one quarter of different quantities. We then used the four different operations to support our learning. We discussed how using part-part whole model, the bar model, bead strings could help us find an answer to our problem.

CCCS

This half term we have been looking at our butterfly 'The Show Must Go On'. We have been exploring the story of Pocahontas, including looking at where she was from, the oceans and continents that she may have seen on her journey. We also made headdresses that were inspired by hers.

Here are some pictures from our amazing trip to Erith Fire Station
