September 2021

Welcome to our September blog! We are excited to show you what we have been doing since we have started Year 3!

English

In English, we have been looking at the book 'Tuesday'. We had fun creating our very own story maps to help us understand the text.

After, we had learnt the story of 'Tuesday' we then went on to write our own police reports investigating the unusual lily pads ending up on the street. We made sure that we were using adjectives and adverbs to make our writing interesting.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning about the place value of three-digit numbers. We have been representing the three-digit numbers in different ways using: dienes and place value counters. We have now started to add and subtract numbers using the column method.

We also learnt how to represent the three-digit numbers ourselves by drawing the dienes.

Art

In Art we have been learning about how to use our pencil to create a sketch. In Geography we have been learning about the Italian Alps and the Scottish Highlands. We used our pencils to create our very own sketches of the mountains. Take a look at some of our fantastic sketches.

We hope you enjoyed looking at what we have been learning about in class. Please come back soon and look at our October class blog!
