September 2021
Welcome to our September blog! We are excited to show you what we have been doing since we have started year 3!
English
In English, we have been looking at the book 'Tuesday'. We really enjoyed creating our very own story maps to help us learn the story.
After we had learnt the story of 'Tuesday' we then went on to write our very own police reports investigating the unusual lilly pads ending up on the street. We made sure that we were using adjectives and adverbs to make our writing exciting.
Maths
In maths we have been learning about the place value of three-digit numbers. We have been representing the three-digit numbers in different ways using: dienes, place value counters and bead strings. We have now started to add and subtract numbers using the column method.
We also learnt how to represent the three-digit numbers ourselves by drawing the dienes.
Art
In art we have been learning about how to use our pencil to create a sketch. In Geography we have been learning about the Italian Alps and the Scottish Highlands. We used our pencils to create our very own sketches of the mountains. Take a look at some of our amazing sketches.
We hope you enjoyed looking at what we have been learning about in class. Please come back soon and look at our October class blog!
