March 2022

Welcome to our March class blog.

We are overjoyed to share what we have been learning this month!

Local Area Field Trip

This month we were lucky enough to go on our local area visit. We walked round Erith and took a survey of the services, shops and leisure activities available in Erith town centre. We used this data to create a map of our local area and wrote a fact file about Erith.

English

In English, we have been looking at The Papaya that Spoke by Pie Corbett. We really enjoyed creating actions, getting into character to embed the story and used these to create our whole class story map from memory. We then spent our time innovating and creating our own stories based on our text and changed the setting and characters. Please read some of our stories below.

Maths

In Maths, we continued to develop our understanding of time and applying our growing knowledge to telling the time using Roman numeral clocks. We also looked at shapes and used the perimeter song to help us calculate the perimeter of 2d shapes. In addition to this we had lots of fun recognising 3d shapes from their properties playing "What shape am I?".

Science

In Science, we have been looking at the life cycle of plants and how different environments impact their growth. We have planted our own sunflowers and look forward to observing their growth.
