Truro's November Blog - 24/11/20

This month in Truro class we have been very busy as there has been a lot going on in November. Including Remembrance day, Anti-bullying week, Barvember and Children in Need.

Science

In science we have been learning about the different types of rocks and how they different types of rocks were made.

We sorted the different types of rocks based on their physical properties.

We all drew or sequenced our own rock cycle so that we knew the process of how the different rocks were made.

We have really enjoyed learning about rocks so far this term and can’t wait to learn more!

Computing

In computing we have been learning about how to debug and programme that control and stimulate virtual events. We have been using ‘Turtle Academy’ to do this.

We really enjoy our computing sessions and like offering to help and support each other with working on our coding skills.

English

In our English lessons we focused on the text ‘The Little Hen and the Great War’. We created our own story maps in our books to help us to learn the text.

We also spent time writing our own letters and diary entries as the hen that travelled off to war with the solider. We used our writing tool kit that we created as a class to ensure we included all of our features that were needed in our writing.

We worked in groups to create our own story map for our brand new text 'The Loch'. We really enjoyed being able to share ideas for each paragraph and thinking about the pictures we could draw to represent the story.

CCCS

We also like to learn about the different time periods in history. We have been learning about Stone Age to Iron Age this half term. We focused on Stone age and Iron Age and learnt about the different settlements that Neolithic people lived in. Many members of the class did some fantastic research about the Stone Age at home.
