Hereford February Blog
English
In English we looked at different fact files and their structures. We then innovated our Neil Armstrong fact file to a report all about ourselves! We found out that to write a good fact file it would need a title, a picture, an interesting fact and lots of important facts. Our first week back in after half term we have started to look at ‘The Gruffalo’ story. We have looked at some amazing adjectives to describe the Gruffalo. We have written sentences such as, ‘The Gruffalo has turned out toes and orange eyes.’

Maths
In maths we have been looking at time. We started by identifying o'clock on the practical clocks and seeing where the hands would sit. We then drew these hands onto a clock to show times to the hour. Also, we have looked at time related word problems, by looking at the information and creating the correct time. We then moved on to looking at half past the hour. The children were great at this and were able to tell me what time we had to go to playtime (half past 10) and what time we had to go to lunch (12 o'clock).

Science
In Science we began by planting a bean and discovering what it needed to grow. We let our plants grow for 5 weeks and watched them change. At the end of these 5 weeks we compared our plant from when it was a seed to being a bean. After coming back from the half term break we have started to look at everyday materials such as wood, metal, plastic and rubber. We identified these based on what they looked like and felt like. We thought about what we already knew about these materials.
