September 2021

September Blog!

Welcome to our September blog! We are really excited to show you all of the exciting things we have been doing in our lessons and hope you enjoy them too.

English

In English we have been looking at fairy tales including Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk. We are practising using our capital letters and full stops and also recapped the -ed suffix for the past tense. Here are some of the spelling rules we looked at.

We then used our knowledge to write our own stories. Here is Marvella's retelling of Cinderella which helped her to achieve Writer of the Week. Well done!

We have also been recapping our RWI sounds and spelling words using different digraphs, split digraphs and trigraphs. Here is some of the work we have been producing in our SPaG lessons!

Maths

In maths we have been looking at place value of numbers and working on our addition and subtraction skills. We started our Year 2 maths journey looking at representing numbers in different ways and comparing and ordering these.

We then moved to adding numbers using pictorial methods of Base 10. Here is Caliana's fantastic maths work adding two-digit numbers and ones. Well done!

PESHR

In PESHR we have been thinking about our school rules and why we need them. We then created different rules for us to follow to ensure we are safe and happy.

We hope you enjoyed reading our class blog and we look forward to sharing our October learning with you.
