July 2021

Welcome to July’s blog. Below is a snapshot of what we have been learning in the classroom.

English

In English, we looked at a variety of poetry. The children were given opportunities to express their feelings through adjective poetry, rhyming couplet poetry and free style poetry. The children thoroughly enjoyed this unit and are already looking forward to poetry in Year 3!

Maths

In Maths, we invented our very own maths board games. The children thought about mathematical equations they could add and the different ways players could win (or lose) the game. Once they completed these, the children (including myself) played each other's board games and had a brilliant time!

RE

In RE, the children learned about the synagogue. We discussed the different parts and their names. The children were very surprised to hear that men and women were not allowed to sit next each other! Once the children were confident, the children were given the task to create a synagogue using props. The children had a lot of fun and were able to successfully create a 'mini' synagogue in our classroom.

Unfortunately, that is our last monthly blog. Thank you so much for following our work throughout the year. On a personal note, this class have been incredible. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching them and I wish each child every success, next year, in Year 3.
