Welcoming Service

Every year we celebrate the new pupils who have joined our school, either as pupils entering Christ Church in our Early Years and Foundation Stage, or as an in-year transfer from other schools. We celebrate the diversity each pupil brings to our school, welcome them and promise to nurture them to the best of our ability, as they grow. Our school vision is key to the entirity of their school life with us, and we hope that its impact will be far reaching into their lives.

As a symbol of each child's unique 'spark', our welcoming service each year has a focus on light. Our new EYFS classes are given their class candle, and pupils are given the opportunity to take part in activities, such as decorating tea lights, writing star prayers etc.

As part of our welcoming service, pupils were invited to decorate candle holders with gems, to show the wonderful colours and variety in our world.

Mother Monica, Rev. Simon and Mrs Taylor (Chair of Governors) supported the service and shared with pupils how Jesus is the light of the world, and that if we let him, we too can shine like Jesus and bring his love to the world.

Mrs Philips wrote the following people, to share with pupils at the start of their adventure:

New to School Poem

Welcome to our wonderful school,

The joy of education lies at your feet,

You’re going to learn oh so much,

And amazing people you will meet

You’re sure to feel quite nervous,

Butterflies fluttering in your tum,

Not wanting to walk through the door,

Stay safe at home with mum

Please let me reassure you,

Our school’s a lovely place,

Lots of friendly teachers,

With smiles upon their faces

They’ll help you to settle in,

Show you where things are,

They’ll be supportive and oh so praising,

Make you feel like a superstar

You’ll soon find your way around,

And make many friends,

You’ll enjoy your time at Christchurch,

Your creative learning journey never ends...
