Our Heart Rates - 22.10.20

In our PESHR lessons this term we have been learning about how important our health and wellbeing is.

We discussed how we could keep ourselves healthy and active through exercising. We predicted that when we are doing strenuous activity our heart rate will increase, and that a normal resting heart rate would be lower.

We also predicted that when we eat, our heart rate also increases. This prediction linked to our topic in science on the digestive system, that we have been focusing on this term.

We measured our heart rates by placing our forefinger and middle finger on our wrist or neck, and counted the beats for one minute.

It was no surprise that our prediction was correct! We wanted to know why this was. Did you know that our heart beats faster during exercise and when we eat, so that more blood gets out to our bodies?
