May 2021

Welcome to May’s blog. Below is snapshot of what we have been learning in the classroom.

English

In English, we looked at a story called 'The Day the Crayons Quit.' This fantastic book is about a group of crayons who are fed up with their owner and decide to quit! To hook the children, they entered our classroom with all of the chairs missing. They then noticed a letter stuck to the whiteboard. The letter explained that the chairs had quit and were fed up with the children in our class not taking care of them. Through this, the children wrote a letter back to the chairs telling them that they were sorry. The chairs did forgive them and were back in the classroom after lunch.

Maths

In Maths, we have been looking at direction and position. After learning a variety of turns and direction, the children had to undergo a 'driving test' to earn their directional driver's license. The children had a great time and were very proud to show off their new licenses.

RE

In RE, we have been looking at Judaism. We looked closely at a Jewish family and how they celebrate Shabbat each Friday evening. Shabbat is the day of rest for Jews and allows families to spend good, quality time with one another. This usually starts with a family dinner on Friday and then some form of charitable work the day after. Shabbat represents the day of rest when God created the world in seven days.

CCCS

In PESHR, we looked at eating healthily. We looked carefully at the food groups and decided which ones we should eat more of. The children then designed and drew their own healthy meals on a plate.

That is it, for now, folks. We hope you enjoyed our May blog and we look forward to seeing you again in June.
