Hereford Class June Blog 28/06/21

In English, we have been reading two stories by Ed Vere called 'Max the Brave' and 'Max and Bird'. Max the Kitten is fearless and brave and wants to chase mice and birds. However, by the end of the story Max soon learns the error of his ways. We used this story to then write our own adventure stories. We created our own books and wrote a sequel for Max's adventures using a beginning, middle and end. We hope you enjoyed reading the stories at home!

In Maths, we have been learning about time. We have been learning about using o'clock and half past. We learnt that the long hand is the minute hand and the short hand is the hour hand. When the minute hand points up it is o'clock. When it points down to 6 it is half past.

We also learnt about position and direction. We used bee-bots to program clockwise, anti-clockwise as well as quarter, half and three quarter turns. We had great fun!

In Science, we have been learning about plants and how they grow. In class we planted a bean seed using plant pots, compost and a seed. We then chose the best place to put the plants considering the importance of sunlight and water.

We also learnt about common garden plants and weeds. We used this information to design our very own gardens.
